About the event

Discover the art of working with clay in this 8-week beginner hand-building pottery class! Perfect for those new to ceramics, this course introduces essential techniques using stoneware clay in a relaxed, supportive environment.

 

Students will learn foundational skills including pinch pots, coiling, slab building, and basic sculpting. These core techniques provide a strong framework for continued growth, empowering students to develop their own artistic voice and create work that is personally meaningful.

 

Throughout the session, you’ll explore your creativity while building confidence in your abilities. The instructor will guide you step-by-step through each new skill, offering individualized support and encouragement while helping you bring your unique creative vision to life.

The QArts Gallery is managed and operated by member volunteers. Hours vary weekly based on volunteer availability.

Parking

  • Metered parking on the street

  • Paid parking in the President’s Parking Lot located on Saville Ave. From either direction, look for the National Park Visitors Center on the corner of Hancock St. & Saville Ave. to park. The QArts Gallery is directly across the street from the National Park Visitors Center and Quincy College.

  • Weekends: Free parking behind the QArts Gallery in the MBTA lot. From either direction look for Starbuck’s on the end of our block on Hancock St. At that traffic light turn into the MBTA entrance and parking lot. You will need to walk a short distance around to the gallery’s front entrance on Hancock Street.
