Open Studio: Ceramics (Advanced ONLY)

Service Description

$15/per session + cost of clay (cash on-site) if purchasing from QAA inventory. The ceramics open studio provides an opportunity for potters to utilize our ceramics studio and tools. Please note that the open studio is for individuals who already have experience with throwing on the wheel and do not require formal instruction from a teacher. Participants will be required to secure firing offsite. Portland Pottery in Braintree will fire work in their kilns for a nominal fee. Glazing opportunities to be arranged for a future date in March to allow for students to fire off site. Glazes at studio fire at cone 5/6. **IMPORTANT: Teacher will not be onsite for this** Supplies: Recommend purchasing one or two 25lb bags of clay. Clay can be purchased through Portland Pottery, another third party, or through QAA (while supplies last). Firing temperature must be recorded to include in paperwork for offsite firing.

Parking

  • Metered parking on the street

  • Paid parking in the President’s Parking Lot located on Saville Ave. From either direction, look for the National Park Visitors Center on the corner of Hancock St. & Saville Ave. to park. The QArts Gallery is directly across the street from the National Park Visitors Center and Quincy College.

  • Weekends: Free parking behind the QArts Gallery in the MBTA lot. From either direction look for Starbuck’s on the end of our block on Hancock St. At that traffic light turn into the MBTA entrance and parking lot. You will need to walk a short distance around to the gallery’s front entrance on Hancock Street.
