Service Description

All levels of drawing expertise are welcome. We will develop and explore a number of approaches to capturing a good likeness and expression. Exercises include studying tonal values—the lights, darks, and mid-tones—and proportions that make a good portrait. We will practice sight-sizing, how to scale, and study interesting ways to pose and arrange the portrait. Bring your preferred media. We’ll go from sketch to finished portrait in this series using plaster busts and live models as available. Supplies: Bring your favorite drawing tools: pencils, charcoal, pastels, paper, eraser etc. If you don’t have any of these we will help you get started with our extensive supply closet of materials.
