Service Description

First, learn how to properly “sight size” and then size your drawing proportionally. Then you’ll consider how to best “find and place” your subject in a composition on your paper. Then slowly move to block in rough shapes, recognize the sculptural form of the head—the shadows, the highlights, and the midtones. Once you’re confident in your basics, begin to place and define key features. Step back, squint to blur detail and “see” the general forms. Move in and correct where the shapes don’t look right. Now you’re hitting your stride. Details are easier to place. Highlights make your study “pop” with depth. Working from live models, reference photos, and plaster busts, you can see how light shapes and defines in flattering and dramatic ways. Learn to compose, pose, and light your subject for best effect. A popular series this workshop is open to all levels of skill. Instruction is geared to the individual. Some materials provided, please bring paper and basics to the first session. A live model will be present for 4 of the weeks and the model fee is included Basic materials provided
