Service Description

The ceramics open studio provides and opportunity for potters to utilize our ceramics studio wheels and tools. Please note that the open studio is for individuals who already have experience with throwing on the wheel or hand building and DO NOT require instruction from a teacher. Participants will be required to secure firing off site. Portland Pottery in Braintree will fire work in their kilns for a nominal fee. IMPORTANT: (Class coordinators Sara and Solange will not be onsite for this) Supplies: Recommend purchasing one or two 25 lb bags of clay. Clay can be purchased at Portland Pottery, another 3rd party, or through QAA (while supplies last). Firing temperatures must be recorded to include in paperwork for offsite firing. Non instructional: pre experience required Sara Noonan and Solange Hebert (coordinators) 4 wheels and 2 hand building Available 6 Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9 pm starts Wednesday, April 1 $90 for 6 sessions Clay materials not included, but available on site $25 for 25 lbs. NB: Firing and Glazing at Portland Pottery in Braintree for additional fee

Parking

  • Metered parking on the street

  • Paid parking in the President’s Parking Lot located on Saville Ave. From either direction, look for the National Park Visitors Center on the corner of Hancock St. & Saville Ave. to park. The QArts Gallery is directly across the street from the National Park Visitors Center and Quincy College.

  • Weekends: Free parking behind the QArts Gallery in the MBTA lot. From either direction look for Starbuck’s on the end of our block on Hancock St. At that traffic light turn into the MBTA entrance and parking lot. You will need to walk a short distance around to the gallery’s front entrance on Hancock Street.
